Meet Matt Kaufman
I've spent my life at the intersection of community and technology.
These two worlds might seem far apart. But together, they create powerful outcomes.
I'm a Director at Camp Ramaquois, where I've spent more than three decades creating environments where children and staff thrive. Camp has taught me that the best learning happens through movement, play, and authentic relationships. It's shown me that resilience is built through small, supported struggles. And it's proven that belonging is forged through ritual, teamwork, and shared joy.

I bring the same problem-solving mindset to technology. My work spans web development, mathematical optimization, AI, and automation. I design systems that make complex operations smoother and unlock new possibilities for organizations.
I'm the author of two books. The Summer Camp MBA shares 50 leadership lessons that camp teaches better than any classroom. The Campfire Effect, coming February 2026, explores how intentional communities create the conditions for human flourishing.

What I Believe
People learn, grow, and connect best in community settings where problem-solving, creativity, and play come first.

Most workplaces, schools, and families stumble into community by accident. Camp builds it on purpose. That's not a coincidence. It's a practice that can be learned and applied anywhere.
AI is going to reshape how we live and work. This isn't something to fear. But it does mean we need spaces like camp more than ever, places where humans practice being human together. And it means camp professionals need to understand these tools so they can use them wisely.
